It is cold and dark in my room. A large shaft of light cuts through a gap of crushed velvet.
I sit beneath it and close my eyes. Deep breaths, no where for me to run and hide.
Deep breaths.
The mind is cunning and starts to chat about everything as if she had not seen me in days.
I greet her kindly and do not force her down but embrace her chatter as I would a child's.
Deep breaths.
The light shaft feels warm, igniting my skin and bones. I bask like a kitten in its glow.
Deep breaths.
The space clears, the child, now content, returns to her hiding place.
I open my eyes...the world is alive again.
Deep breaths.
