Buddhist Dharma Isles

Bodhi Patrick the Patriarch of Ireland, slayer of the Celtic nagas would be humbled I hope by the progress of the Three Jewels. We owe a great debt to the Pagan Romans and Celtic civilisation for their influence on our sacred and sanctified Isles. However do we really wish to be a part of the Pan European Gaulish Empire? There strange mix of Secular Nazarenism is not for us.
I would remind the MahaSangha that rule 'by the enlightened for the enlightened' was won by deprivation and sacrifice of our greatest Arahats. We are a civilised people, some of our nuns from the time of Boedicea the Renunciate, are now allowed to take only one consort if that is their inclination. Our great scientific achievements started with men like Bodhi Newton and his 'Discourses on Apple Descending', are still revered as dharma in this Quantum age. Bodhi Darwin and his revelation of the 'Incarnation of the Fittest' is still the basis of NeoYoga. We are a magical people thanks to our dharma sciences.
Do we wish to live in the megatipis, like the Manhattans or the triangular buildings of the Egyptian Empire? We have the highest temples, the greatest stupas and more beggars and renunciates than any country in the world. It is a noble effort.
Do we wish to be like the Taoist consumers of China, with their must have Yin, changing almost overnight to their must have Yang? What discursive dukkha is that? My friends we must be strong like Shakyamuni the Family Abandoner. We must be single minded like our Dharma Protector and Mother, Queen Elizabeth the Second Tara.
Our Zen libraries are thankfully almost empty. Our Tantric mandalas have protected us more than poverty ever could. In the words of Lama Winston Templehill:

We shall debate on the beaches, we shall debate on the landing grounds, we shall debate in the fields and in the streets, we shall debate in the hills; we shall ever surrender in this life and the next.
