Is the heart sutra basically saying the same thing as the fire sutta?

    IMHO, no. In my words, the Heart Sutra describes reality while the Fire Sutra describes the strength (and strength isn't quite the word I was looking for) with which we hold on to what we think is real.

    Interesting point of view. I never thought about it that way.
