Happy Wan Ok Phansa Day

vinlynvinlyn Colorado...for now Veteran
Although not exclusively a Buddhist holiday, this is Wan Awk Pansa Day in Thailand.

You can find a good explanation here: http://chiangmaibest.com/awk-pansa/

    It's a lovely ceremony.
  • I didn't even know lol. There has been no celebrations here and normally the Thais really like to celebrate, strange.

I would have missed it too, had it not been for a Thai friend emailing me.

My sense has always been that it is more a tradition in the north and the Chao Phrya River valley.
  • Well my partner has been back home in Surin the past 4 days visiting her mum, should be back today so I guess I'll ask her about it when she returns. I wanted to go but I had so much work on I couldn't, I can't wait to go back during NYE though, the moonban there is so relaxed and 'back to basics'
