Why do threads disappear.........

*from the "search new post" results* when I have read or commented? Some forums I participate on these threads remain visible. This gets to be problematic when I want to go back and find something I need to correct or want to add to, and don't exactly remember which forum it was in............ I sometimes can't find the thread until someone else comments in it. Is there some setting somewhere I can change to modify this property?

    When that happens, I use the 'Quick Links', 'Today's Posts' option to find the thread again.
