Placement meditation

Hi I am new to Buddhism and I have a question about placement meditation. While practicing placement meditation am I supposed to use a mantra or not? tyvm

    Can anyone help please? By placement meditation I mean after analytical (or contemplation) meditation, when you focus single-pointedly, just to make sure I'm clear. I'm sure someone will post eventually. ty

    Placement meditation doesn't use mantras. Just look at your mind, bringing it back when it strays into memories of the past or thoughts of the future. When you focus on the present moment, there will be a sense of absence, a sense that something is missing and if you look a little bit harder you could see it. Don't try to fill the absence up, just let it be.
