How do I get to Carnegie Hall?

For those of us old enough to remember this old joke:

New York City tourist: Can you tell me how to get to Carnegie Hall?
New York City native: Practice. Practice. Practice.

I think this old advice is very pertinent to all of us. Especially for the new folk I see popping in here looking for advice and answers.

No matter which tradition or lineage one follows, once you strip away the robes, the ceremonies, the mantras, the malas, the cushions, etc., we are all left with the same basic core: The 3 Jewels. The 4 Noble Truths. The 5 Precepts. The 8-fold Path. And meditation.

And the key to it all is practice. No wavering, hesitation or distractions... simply practice. All else will follow. Practice and your teacher will find you.

From the Tibetan Book of the Dead:

Now having obtained a precious human body,
I do not have the luxury of remaining on a distracted path.

Practice.

At first it looked like a recipe book, then I realised it was life.
