The above refers to a crossword puzzle clue in perhaps the most famous English newspaper, the Times....
This crossword is fabled for its cryptic clues...
The above was:

Clue: "MTGG (6,5)" The numbers in brackets denoting the numbers of letters in the word or words. Answer? Hungry Horse.

Here are a couple more.....

Clue: SGEG (9,4)

Clue: ABCDEFGPQRSTUVWXYZ (5)

Clue: Said saga mother in Nepal, is always taking it easy. (7)

    So that's what first two were then
    "Scrambled Eggs" and "Water" (H to O).

    It all makes sense once your given the answers !!

    I've no idea about the 3rd one either though.
