Interesting. I wonder what the correlation is between that part of the brain (mentioned in the article as having been developed for threat response) and theistic belief is?
Perhaps addressing perceived threats by putting one's faith in a higher power, because of a perceived lack of power in oneself?
WND (World Net Daily) is an ultra-right wing publication invested in all things anti-Obama, anti-liberal, anti-tolerance, etc, so I doubt very much there's much truth to this article. Just saying.
It's also in the Express so it must be true.

I think the magnetic field increased the ability to respond rationally.

Perhaps we should start taping magnets to peoples heads.
With all of the mental health issues that face modern society I would like to think that curing people of their religious beliefs would be a lower priority.

Strange to me to think that those seriously committed to religious thinking/practice and those committed to fiddling around with magnets seem to be headed in precisely the same direction.

Will this work on the Neo-Cons (the folks who are so right wing that they make traditional 'Conservatives' look like 'Liberals'?
As for the Neo-Libs, it appears to be a false label as there seems to be nothing liberal about them. Neo-Liberal is supposed to mean 'New Liberal', but their policies, their actions remind me of Orwellian Doublespeak.
Lets go forward to the something akin to the "Old Way" of measuring the Left-Right Spectrum.
Something like this:
Far left (The Anarchist Crowds) - Socialist - Progressive - Left - Moderate Left
Moderate Right - Right - Corporate Right - Far Right (Religious Right, KKK, John Birch, Tea Party, etc).
It appears that magnets did not work on those completely locked in to their 'God' myth. Those people who would stone or re-crucify their Jesus if he appeared in their midst today.
But they did work on those who had a mind to begin with.
Then again, it may not have been the magnets, it may have been that, in participating in the study, a number of the test subjects woke up and actually began using their brains/minds in true analysis, be it consciously or unconsciously. The magnets may have been the excuse they needed to kick-start their brains.
Just a little senseless prattle; but I didn't think it rated a whole new discussion.
