Star Wars Retreat

an immersive retreat wherein you dress the part and every moment is supposed to be an active experience.... sounds familiar

https://www.jedichurch.org/

maybe one day we can go on Jedi retreats without the attractions and encounter our own Yodas. wearing a robe and talking to a monk sounds like a great idea. if only! ;)

May the force be with you! Namaste!

Supposedly the relationship between Yoda and Luke was partially modelled after Carlos Castaneda's The Teachings of Don Juan books. I'm sure there were many influences.

I heard Yoda (at least his likeness) was based on Tsenzhab Serkong Rinpoche.

Wow I had no idea about either of those things! I will look them up.

I love how intrinsic Buddhism is to Star Wars. Am I a Star Wars fan because I'm Buddhist or a Buddhist because I'm a Star Wars fan? I am sure Episode 9 will bring in some good old Dharma and I can't wait. Luke becomes the new Yoda.... I wonder where that will leave Rey in the next trilogy 30 years from now, haha.

I saw elements of Buddhism in Star Wars. I saw far more relevant to Buddhism in 'The Matrix'. But that's not the discussion here. (I only mention it because I haven't seen all of the Star wars prequels or sequels, just the three original films, but I followed the Matrix Trilogy start to end.)

@federica I think Star Wars is a space adventure with Buddhism thrown in. The Matrix is more like modern sci fi with a stronger ideological "point." I have never seen the movies but I may watch them soon...
