Like Richdawson I do not follow blindly. My acceptance of Buddhism has been a slow realization of truth meditating on my pillow one breath at a time.

    Very important @JamesTimm
Buddhism is gnostic or knowledge/experience based. Faith comes through understanding others have travelled this way and the signs are knowable ...

Remember we have some very different practicing Buddhists here. Some heretics. Some crazies. Beginners etc. All valued.

Weird comes from ye olde English word 'wise' incidentally ...

Next time you're in a shopping mall/crowded place, just shout "HEY WEIRDO! " and see how many people stop and look to see whose calling "them"

We are all a little weird.... some more weirder than others...

Sounds like a good hobby o:)

    You can't have 'more weirder'.
    You can have 'more weird'.
    You can have 'weirder'.

But you can' use the term 'more' with something that is intended to already BE 'more'.

Said the weirdest Mod of all.

Sounds like a good introduction to Zen Buddhism. ;)

On the surface yes, it is like any other religion, with its doctrines ceremonies, rituals and so on....Mind candy for some.... :)

What should one expect after three thousand years of accumulating cultural baggage ....

However the deeper one delves into the Dharma to really see for themselves (and not rely upon the words of others) it is there that the differences start to make themselves felt....
