Don’t Cry For Me (poem)

Inspired by recent posts by @Tsultrim, I pencilled a poem a couple of years ago but left it unwritten until now:

Don’t Cry For Me

         Don’t cry
          for
           me,

                  the cold corpse that lies
              before you is not me,

for I now have left this place,

    to where
         I can’t be sure,

       my time here was
           a mere momentary pause
                in a life eternal.

I did not fear death, my
      only anguish was for those
               I left behind, so;

    save your t
                          e
                           a
                            r
                             s,

they are no use to you or I.

                               Know that I lived
                                                   a full life,
       with joy,
           with love,
      with friendship,
           with you around me.

         I found true meaning.

                     My last request:

            be strong, be brave,
be happy, be the best that
                            you can be,

remember me but let me go.

                                      My journey
                                       continues,
                                        in another
                                         time,
                                          another
                                           place,

                                            another
                                             me.

                             Don’t cry for me,
                                  please.

Great, Lee82. The poem felt complete and the way you arranged the sentences was clever, the falling tears for example. And one wonders if there would ever be poetry without the specter of death as part of our human perspective.

A nice poem Lee82, very expressive.
