LnP, glad that you've been popping in more lately (LOL, first I mistyped as "pooping" in). I agree that arrogance and bickering make the forum a difficult place to enjoy conversation. It's difficult when there are novice practitioners from many different sects of Buddhism and other philosophies collide with other opinions. It would be nice if we had some experienced, qualified teachers from various sects who could provide their own thoughts and teachings with the e-sangha. Of course the most experienced probably don't have any interest in participating in this forum!
I've been trying to get involved more and share my thoughts without getting involved in the arguments. Maybe you can do the same? I noticed you've posted a few times recently so I hope you come back more and join in the discussions :-)
Sorry Tom :'( I just think this forum is turning into quite a hostile and toxic place- although it has helped me incredibly in the past couple years, I feel that it has become too overpopulated. I've had many friends who have just left like that, with no explanation, so I don't want to be someone who just goes. Though I'm currently in another forum (non-Buddhist), you're my best e-friend and it does sadden me to think we'd never have a conversation again. I'd love to keep in contact, even if just via newbuddhist messaging.
By the looks of your posts ^ you don't seem to be doing too well :( If you don't mind me asking, how did you come to be so "messed up" as you put it? :L
Your friend,
Joe
I know this was directed at Tom but I wanted to jump in. I noticed the change in tone around here as I left when the new format was implemented. I came back and was none too thrilled about the arguments, bickering, pointless arguing. Maybe that's just the downside to an e-sangha.
In any case, if you're not going to be around I'll stick to sending messages and hope you get them. Be well...
Ah, Mugzy :) I would have sent you a message, but you hadn't been posting much and we hadn't spoken for ages.
I hate the attitude of this forum. The moderation is terrible and unfair. Everybody is arrogant and rude. I don't like to leave something when things get bad, but sometimes there's nothing you can do. I'm completely powerless and the right people aren't getting banned. It seems that the moderators have a bunch more patience for Buddhists and the non-religious rather than the Christians ect. Some of the horrid things present member have said, and then a Christian will get banned at the slightest hiccup. Indeed its rude to evangelise anywhere at any time with any religion, but the bias is clear- rules should apply to everybody. If this was my own forum something Fede said to me only a few weeks after I first came here I'd have given her a serious warning. But what can you do? I miss this place- but the old place, not the new place. It's like loving a dead rabbit. It's still there- but dead.
Keep well also.
