    @federica

I am sure you have considered...

that the difference between actually hating insomnia and not hating insomnia
could be the difference between having a lot of awake time to hate something
    and
having a lot of awake time to rest.

Well I'm off to bed before some nasty hormonal retort disturbs my potential sleep.
I guess I can check tomorrow for a red splotch where my photo used to be.

Auntie @federica, have you ever meditated on it (insomnia)?

If you really think it's the old hormones, why not go to your doc to get some?

(My doc wouldn't because of my heart, @#&* the rascal.)

Yes, I had considered meditation, but I'm aware that Meditation is not for falling asleep to!
I actually tried some meditation a couple of nights ago, and the meditation went well. I stayed awake for a further hour and a half.... fell asleep, and woke up around 20 minutes later or so, to my alarm going off...

I'm totally against HRT for myself. Totally.
Why 'replace' what your body is needing less of, naturally? The fact is, it's an event. Not a condition, or an illness. It's a transitory phase, which leads a woman from one stage of life into another. Hormones no longer required.
Replacing them (in my opinion) goes against what Nature is seeking to amend.
It's as much a winding down, as adolescence/puberty is a 'cranking up'.

And I feel so bad for young kids, nowadays; they have raging hormones, fluctuating moods, the onset of periods, (girls) voices breaking (boys) and hair sprouting (both) and in the most critical, crucial and so-said important educational period of their lives. And during all of this, does anyone offer them anything to ease the journey? To aid in the transition from child to adult? The heck we do. We just label them sullen, moody, unpredictable, foolish, lazy, typical teenagers....

I read a phenomenal book titled Elderwoman and in my opinion, it's one of the best books I have ever read about empowerment through the Menopause, and beyond.
Life doesn't end, or need altering.
    New Life, begins.

Nice post, Auntie @federica -- I didn't mean to use meditation to fall asleep by. ;)

There I was this morning, sitting by the sea, contemplating waves lapping and feeling all nice and peaceful, when suddenly there was this loud roaring, a couple of Typhoon jets doing a low pass over the sea, bleedin' show-offs! Actually it was alright, I am secretly rather impressed by Typhoons. The seagulls weren't impressed though. B)

My elderly Mum keeps herself sprightly by volunteering certain duties. It keeps her in touch with people, she socialises and it keeps her interest in the local history sharp.

We have lately had some of the most atrocious weather in the UK. I mean, really really bad, even for us, with our 'cold soggy climate' reputation.
Right now, it's unarguable. The temperatures are much lower than seasonally normal, the water tables are off the scale.
Tuesday, saw one year's worth of rainfall for our area, fall in 2 hours, between 17.15, and 19.30.

The two above snippets, are connected...

My Mum, on Wednesdays, stands in for the Verger at the Town Church, while the Verger has lunch at the Vicar's lodge, during which they discuss Parish business, so it's a good couple of hours.... During that time, the church, being a major and prominent building and being central to the town's chequered and varied history, receives a lot of visitors, all sightseeing and wnating to know about the environs et al... My mother, being an expert historian, gives mini tours for those interested.
This past Wednesday, there were 2 Italian visitors, (an older-middle-aged couple) which delighted my Mum as she herself is from Italy... and I kid you not, in all seriousness, during her mini guiding tour, the lady of the couple asked her, without a trace of humour whether, "...although it is June in Italy, is it February or March, here....?"

My mother had to gently inform her that, ..."no, it's June here too...."

Ha! People do say the funniest things @federica!

While living in the UK I had a gentleman ask me if the sun rose in the east and set in the west in Australia. He quickly realised what he'd said much to the amusement of us both.

Today is Father's Day, in the UK...

My wonderful Father died in 2010.
He hated Father's Day. He called it an unnecessary 'Americanism', and vaunted it as a feeble attempt to equalise poor, uber-sensitive, deprived American men, by giving them an equivalent of Mother's Day... which incidentally of course, should be referred to (in the UK) as 'Mothering Sunday' and originally had absolutely nothing to do with Maternal devotion...

But if he didn't get a card, boy, we all heard about it.... ! :D

So Happy Father's Day, Papà, Wherever you are.
And quit grumbling. We always think of you, every day, anyway.

Do you know what "safe mode" is, and can you boot it into safe mode? How far you get after that depends on what the problem is. If it's virus related, often that can be cleaned out. If it's software related, an upgrade or install disk can be used to attempt a repair. If it's hardware related, you're usually hosed.

Hoping to go on a boat trip with friends tomorrow to visit the local seal colony. We went out a couple of years ago and there were hundreds of seals basking on the sand, fantastic to see.

I just read this on aol news and I thought it was pretty amazing:

Every night, after the crowds are gone, more than 100 feral cats make themselves at home in Disneyland
They're quietly fed, vaccinated, and neutered by Disney because they perform an important job: They help control the rodent population.

I was thinking along the same lines...

"Disney Officials released a statement this morning announcing the strange disappearance of Mr. M Mouse and his girlfriend, Minnie, and concluded that the feral population of cats in the Centre, may be held responsible. Investigations continue, but in the meantime, anyone with any information which might assist this enquiry should come forward and Contact Chief Seamus O'Hara."

Earlier I was watching a cormorant dive for fish. The cormorant came up with a large fish and a couple of gulls swooped down and tried to pinch it out of his mouth! Fortunately the gulls weren't successful with their attempted mugging and flew off inland, probably to find some unsuspecting tourist with a portion of chips. Those good for nothing gulls, they are just scroungers, never done a proper days work in their life. Pah! :p
