Saw an effective demarcation system on the ground yesterday where outside of the entrance to the store as well as inside leading to each cash register was a number of 3ft waiting circles each seperated from each other by a 6 ft line. It seemed that here there was finally a demarcation system that was obvious enough to have everyone adhere to at least a real 6 ft space seperation from each other.
Of course any scientific testing I've seen of cough/sneeze droplet propulsion clearly shows that 12 ft is the minimum distance needed (in neutral air current conditions) to stay out everybody elses potential spraying range.

The social distancing circles for shoppers to stand in are a good idea @how ....

For the most part, people here on the island seem to follow the rules when shopping at the supermarket (we only have the one supermarket), but you will still get the 'odd' one who forgets...Normally there's only two to three shoppers at the most in the aisle (well on the times, I've been there this has been the case)...

The supermarket check out staff all wear gloves and masks plus have a spray bottle of sanitizer and cloth to wipe the conveyor belt down ...The teller operates behind clear plastic cough & sneeze spray drift protection screens, shopper have to pack their own shopping..and there are the lines on the floor where we are meant to stand and wait while the shopper in front is dealt with..There's hand sanitizer at the entrance of the store plus wipes to wipe the trolley hands down...

Hmm perhaps they should have a decontamination spray machine which sprays all shopper has the enter the store ;);)

I take each Friday off work at the moment and play teacher for the day with my kids (they are doing online schooling due to Covid-19).

    OMG! It's like herding cats.....

Looking forward to the class room being open again.

A few states have started to send kids back and the Victorian Premier (my state) is starting to get a little heat to do the same.

It's about the only thing that the Prime Minister and state Premiers have disagreed on through this whole pandemic i.e. the PM thinks kids should be in school but most the state leaders disagree.

Apparently transmissions of Covid-19 is very low among children but I think the teachers are concerned. Don't blame them.

Education is the state's responsibility so currently they're calling the shots.

Wonderful @lobster its great that you are doing so much for people.

Personally I am just waiting for the covid-19 lockdown to pass. It is encouraging that a few places are starting to lift some restrictions, like Austria and Sweden.

It would seem for governments around the world, finding a middle way between two extremes, ie, opening up/get the economy back on track and still keeping its citizens safe (protected from the virus)...is of the utmost importance...( well I like to think it is, but sadly it would seem some government leaders just don't know how to handle the situation..they are for want of a better term literally at a lost when it comes to this pandemic )

I guess a key thing for them to remember, is that a government can kick start an economy back to life (which as been done on a number of occasions), but it can not bring dead citizens back to life...

They face a choice between economic hardship for a period of time and the possibility of a rising numbers of deaths if they act too soon in opening up their economies...A balance must be found ...

Given the estimated time to develop an effective vaccination or viral treatment

I am afraid that a combination of most lobbyists having huge investments in pressuring the politicians to re-open the economy, along with politicians feeling little voting threat from the groups most medically threatened by this pandemic (the aged and the poor) means that we are likely to see many more repeating waves of infection before the natural immunity from enough of this viruses' surviving hosts (estimated at 60-70% of the general population infected) will neutralize its infectious momentum.

Im sorry @lobster but this made less sense than usual.

I did hear that the mentally disadvantaged such as those who suffer from psychosis are having a harder time than most with the coronavirus lockdown, the whole isolation thing is not good for mental health, so let’s send some metta to them.

From an Australian point of view, we now appear to have all the necessary health care preparation in place (test kits, nurses, hospital beds, ventilators etc.)

The federal government is now hinting at easing restrictions and getting people back to work.

I suspect our state government will be a little more cautious though. Most of these decisions are in their hands.

You can see in the news that some countries are not being honest about the numbers of coronavirus deaths. Like Russia, with 160,000 cases, 10,000 more cases each day and only a few hundred deaths in total confirmed.

As they say...The first casualty of war (in this case war on Covid19) is the truth

But looking at it from a different angle, it's possible that some countries don't want to panic their citizens even more with the truth (how bad it really is) fearing mass hysteria... ...bearing in mind how the first waves of panic hit the countries when CV19 first arrived...

However it's also possible some countries don't want to look like they are not handling the crises well....

I'm not saying that being selective with the truth is the right thing to do, but I can see the reasoning behind why some countries may choose this kind of fake news...

With governments re-opening their economies, people are going to need to take social distancing measures very seriously. Even a modest jump in the spread rate could lead to hundreds of thousands of more people dying from Covid-19.
