It’s ironic, because what drug addicts do is endlessly chase pleasure. It’s just that it is accompanied by being locked into a pattern and being massively unaware and callous towards others. I guess you could call it obsession, which is the antithesis of meditation.

Just chatting to a mate of mine who is going through a messy divorce.
I was feeling surprised and angry as his wife insists she only wants their one year old one day a week and he has him for the other six.
But then I wondered if I’d be so outraged if it was the other way around? Hmmm

For a one-year-old to be separated from his mother for 6 days a week doesn’t sound very healthy.

I guess it all depends on the unconditional love a parent ( mum or dad) has for their child/ren...

There are many single dads who have brought up children who are doing just fine...

However if there is animosity between the parents and they use the child/ren as weapons...that's unhealthy especially for the child/ren sandwiched between the hate...

I only hear one side of the story so don’t want to say too much. He says that she is lazy and can’t be bothered so that why she has gone down this path.

But as long as she is prepared for the results of her actions I guess. When her son is old enough to know the choice she made he may not be so keen to have much to do with her. Who knows!

  • Came across this interesting Heineken ad...

No doubt most of us have preconceived ideas about religions, sexual or gender identity, race, politics, etc etc...often thinking that we know so much about other people or their beliefs but have never actually sat down with them (preferably over a cup of tea) to listen to their point of view...

Great ad. Lousy beer. The only time I had a decent Heineken was in Holland.

… however the psychological process was outstanding. How wonderful.

Wink, wink, nudge, nudge, tea. It’s a good ad though. In a way it tells the story that alcohol is just that little lubricant that gets people talking, which I think is an interesting point of view.

I remember what an old family friend Elizabeth used to serve in her teacups, it was neat whiskey I believe.

So very, very lucky that my daughter and her ex-partner are on extremely good terms. They are very close and both my daughter and grandson, absolutely adore my grandson's little half-brother. They are in contact every day, and as her ex now lives in Spain with is 'new' partner, daily contact is via WhatsApp is unmissable.

  • It was pouring, we drove to Richmond Park to check out the deer. Always good to see them … and then on to Walton Bridge on Thames. Sat in the car watching Canada geese, Egyptian Geese and the Royal Swans. We had tea and cake from the car park tea room. With waterproofs on, walking along the Thames in the rain was a welcome break. We had a pair of walkie talkies to communicate between car and walkers. That was fun.

I must admit I'm all for Aotearoa it makes senses... Aotearoa (NZ) may work as a compromised ....

It's interesting that this labour government lead by Jacinda is very inclusive especially when it comes to supporting/promoting diversity...you could say a very open and accepting approach to things...which for the most part sits well with my Dharma practice...

However they have a battle ahead of them, trying to right the wrongs of the past...

I wouldn't call what he is doing mindfulness in the Buddhist sense, yes it would seem that he has developed one pointedness where his focus of attention is on the job at hand and he is not distracted by what is going on around him...

And being a pornographer perhaps is not what a Buddhist would call having the Right Livelihood ...each to their own...who am I to judge....

Also when it comes to the five precepts I'm not too sure if what he is doing would be described as sexual misconduct if all the adults involved are consenting....
