Prayers for Peace

Thought it might be nice to post some of our favorite prayers for peace during these hard times.

This is such a positive input, I've "stickied" the thread.

Please stick to merely contributing your 'offerings'.

Off-topic posts, or those branching into discussion, will be removed.

    Many thanks, everyone. :)
  • O love, O pure deep love, be here, be now.
Be all; worlds dissolve into your stainless endless radiance,
    Frail living leaves burn with you brighter than cold stars;
Make me your servant, your breath, your core.

This has always been very special to me...

It's the Prayer of St Francis.

    And another prayer:
    Lord, bring Peace to this world;
Begin I pray thee, with me.

  • May the heart's awareness waken in the unawakened
Where it has begun to stir may it never fade
    And may it awaken fully

Touch each other with gentle hands.
Let your hearts embrace the universe.
Hold on to each other while life goes on.
    Oh my friends, hold on.

  • The four vows are not a prayer technically, but for me they express the same thing; our endless journey to peace and liberation.
When something happens that calls for a prayer (like when my father died) I recite these vows:

Sentient beings are numberless; I vow to save them
Desires are inexhaustible; I vow to put an end to them
The Dharmas are boundless: I vow to master them
The Buddha Way is unsurpassable; I vow to attain it

    Prayer

    I would pray but
I am uncertain what to ask of the night sky.

An airplane's guidance spark dazzles my eye,
as if a star were lassoed with the reach of my unborn wish
and brought down to grant it.

    It is not so easy.
I see a tapestry of small lights,
    far off and waning.

But I think the prayer is already written,
    while the future is not.

  • Not so much a prayer...more of a reminder to waken up that I wrote for myself in difficult times.

It is a dark dull day,

    In here we must stay,

Be warned, do not let the mind stray,

    On this dark dull day.

May your Gods go with you.
