I'm glad you're still loyal subjects of the Queen! Hurrah!

We still give her a tip of the hat for sentimental reasons.

    No idea why.

Some see the Monarchy as irrelevant and wasteful.
Some see it as an important reminder of our society's background.

    I'm rather ambivalent about it.

I've been in North America only once. I stayed in BC two weeks from the City of Vancouver to the Rocky Mountains in 1994. Liked a lot the beautiful city and nature over there! One of my cousins still lives in Vancouver. That's all a-boat it.

  • WalkerWalker Veteran Veteran

The correct Canadian pronunciation is a-boot, not a-boat.

I've actually never heard anyone pronounce it that way except in Nova Scotia or Newfoundland.

I hear "about" all the time but not "aboot" or "aboat".

  • WalkerWalker Veteran Veteran

Yeah, I hear it as 'about' as well, I was just kidding around. But if we were to write the Southern U.S. pronunciation as abowwwt, they'd be scratching their heads too. LOL ;)
