Your Favorite "Buddhist" Songs

Do you have any favorite songs with very Buddhist messages but may not be from artists who practice Buddhism (or from those who do)? I'm also cognizant that what is considered "Buddhist" wisdom is just human wisdom, but you know what I mean.

I haven't come across too many, but I'll start with my favorite of late from Lenny Kravitz, a Christian:

"This Moment Is All There Is"

It was this album by George Harrison that got me thinking about the things that eventually led me to Buddhism - I was hungry for anything Beatle after the band broke up in 1970 and he was trying to find a way to use his celebrity status to make a positive change in the world - it worked out quite nicely for me

I am an Metal Head. There are a few metal Bands who are influenced by Buddhism:

If you go to their facebook page. You can download the albums for FREE or donate. All their stuff is heavily influenced by the Buddha's teachings.

    Go download "The Noble Search":
You, of little dust in your eyes

Go for refuge to the Buddha.
Go for refuge to the dharma.
Go for refuge to the sangha.

Thus, open the doors to the Deathless,
To ascend the palace of the dharma.
    And by cravings ceasing freed,
Become all transcended a knower of all.

    Search,
Above this human breed, engulfed in sorrow.
    Search,
Above this word that has become blind.
    Search.

Thus, beat the drum of the Deathless,
To set in motion the wheel of the dharma.
And with fires quenched and extinguished,
    Become all vanquisher renouncing all.

Go for refuge to the Buddha.
Go for refuge to the dharma.
Go for refuge to the sangha.

    Search,
    Between perception and non-perception.
    Search,
    Between Gaya and Enlightenment.
    Search.

Go for refuge to the Buddha.
Go for refuge to the dharma.
Go for refuge to the sangha.

    You, who seek the Truth

    Search.

MCA is a Buddhist of the Tibetan tradition, I believe

"All I ever wanted / all I ever needed / is here in my arms
Words are very unnecessary / they can only do harm..."

    I think that's pretty Zen.

  • @B5C I recently discovered The Firstborn and, wow, I'm impressed. Most of the reviews are great (at least the ones they put on Facebook!) VERY tight sound.
