A Quick, Simple Way To Practice Giving Everyday

edited March 2011 in General Banter
Hello friends,
Hope you are all well.
Please have a look at this site I go to daily, bookmark it, and click on the tabs for each category every day! I'm trying to spread the word, because you can actually preserve 11.4 square feet of rainforest around the world everyday just by making one little click... The other categories are equally amazing, and you can give so easily.
Simple, quick, and modern(!) way to help, and to practise some generosity and warm-heartedness, despite distance and disconnection.
Warmest wishes to you, and to all beings.
Tim

Uhh, you didn't provide a link to any site. ;)
  • Wow I'm slow.

  • Here's another great website to practice giving.

  • Nice one, thanks for that. I wonder if this site is true to its word.. I hope so
  • Smiling at a stranger, or someone who looks sad, lonely or ill at ease is also a worthwhile thing to do, I think.
It's easy to do, and you can do it as many times a day as you like!

yes, ThailandThom, I have to say, the thought crossed my mind, too...; How do we know that this is doing any good?
I mean, if I sat there and clicked the 'button' all day - what would happen?
  • Even if its baloney at least if someone thought that money was to be had for activist sites it might raise consciousness. Then an enterprise that could document their contribution *might* slide into the picture.
  • Yes, I've had my concerns too. You can see how it works by going deeper on the site. There's an explanation, and a 'how it works' section. Also, you can only click once a day from your computer. I have a laptop and iphone so I can click twice.
I think seeking beyond suspicion and cynicism and finding the good intention of this site is pretty powerful too. Not everything out there has malicious intentions, though tis wise to investigate and find out for yourself.
And yes, I can't always help people financially, or get them through their lives, but I can smile and be open to them. That's giving too.

If you did, maybe you would develop nothing more than compassion. But it's the idea and effort if nothing more. And who knows, maybe it opens people up a little more to take action with generosity. :)

And this site is legit. There has been a lot of stories about it and such. I think it's wonderful :)
  • Hey guys, the rain forest website is a scam. Dont go click there, the rice one I dunno.

Its owned by CharityUSA which is a for profit organization. So you are paying a bunch of scam artists salary.

  • Ooooh, really? CharityUSA are sketchy?
Perhaps some research on my end is required.
It seems like a good site......
