Ipod Touch Buddhism Apps?
I got a few that I could suggest:
Plain Zen is amazing!
An ebook that is 100 pages long that is highly basic and wonderful!
Equanimity for Meditation and Zen Wisdom daily quotes.
And of course: Accesstoinsight

  • Ultratimer.

I use it for meditation. You can designate a series of intervals of varying lengths and alerts, including your choice of 3 singing bowls and custom recordable alerts.

For example, one setup I'm fond of is a 45-minute session broken up as follows:

15 mins: For walking meditation, ending with a loud singing bowl (so I can hear it across the room).

10 mins: For sitting concentration meditation, ending with a soft singing bowl

20 mins: For sitting mindfulness meditation, ending with three bells, each progressively louder.
  • Anyone know of apps which activate a bell or other stimulus at random times during the day, kind of like they do at some Japanese monasteries?

  • I use a app called Insight timer. Really easy to use, has charts to track your meditation, etc.

  • @fivebells There is an app called "mindfulness bell". I haven't used it personally, but have heard good things about it.

Hmm.... here's the website, maybe you can track it down from there.
