Piercing through the shell with meditation

edited April 2011 in Meditation
Hello,

I'm wondering what some of the initial realizations / discoveries you made through regular meditation / Buddhist practice. Was it a specific precept that you used to break, but now abide? Was it a significant negative aspect of your personality that was dropped? Perhaps a clearer thought process?

Hi @InmostLight , my anger is much weaker than it was before and I feel much better without it. I used to fear that my anger had a life of its own.

That's great to hear from all of you!

There are aspects of my life that I'd rather not live with, but I feel that aiming to get rid of them through meditation provides a goal that I strive after. So I just keep mindful and I feel the meditation has been so far encouraging a clearer thought process and much less dualistic thinking.
  • First big change, a few years ago, was to stop regarding anger as an indication of strength.
