Question about vegetarianism...

edited April 2011 in Buddhism Basics
I'm struggling with this right now. Saw some vids on the internet about slaughterhouses, and although in America the killing of cattle for food seems to be done *fairly* humanely, the intent is still to end another's life for food - not a very compassionate act towards the cattle if you ask me. I struggle with this because our nature is to eat meat, just talking nutritional needs here, yet we have a developed intellect that makes us question the very nature of our nature - if you get my drift. What are your thoughts?

Please search the forum for other discussions on vegetarianism, there are literally hundreds. And I do mean, hundreds....

    search using 'vegetarian', 'meat', 'diet'.....

It's a strongly debated point, and always recent.
Thank you for bringing it up, but yet another thread is just going to be more of the same old same-old.
