Mentor?

edited May 2011 in Buddhism Basics
Hi there, I'm Elizabeth. I started learning about Buddhism a couple years ago. I've read loads of information online, and I have a couple books, but I feel like I'm not learning much on my own. I was wondering if there is someone who would be willing to kind of take me under their wing and teach me. There is a temple in my town, but I can't attend as I live off the bus line and do not have my drivers license yet :)

Consider just asking questions to the general assembly here, there are many helpful and knowledgable members!

Just picking a willing mentor online might be problematic in that you'll only get one view, and without credentials.
  • Thank you Leon, I'll look into that :)

I see your point aMatt, but I don't even really know where to begin when it comes to asking questions.

I like most of Ajahn Jayasaro's videos. Here's the first in a series in general Buddhism, posted a few days ago in a thread:

Here's one of his on general meditation, theories and practices:

Maybe those will spark some questions?

    Good luck!
