Internet freak...?

How many hours a day do you spend 'wired in'?

Comments

  • I spent about nine hours doing nothing but browsing, researching, etc. on the internet each weekday. I don't have internet at my house but I do at work, which works nicely for me because I really do love browsing. I'd probably spend a lot more unskillful time at home if I had the web there.

Sometimes I feel, personally, that I need to "unplug" for a while at work, like when my energy dips very low or my eyes get really tired. I'll either get out of my chair and do some manual work around my shop, or I'll try to read a book or write in a journal.

Are you worried that you're spending too much time online? Don't call yourself a freak. If you feel that you're using the internet excessively, then just try to find some balance by using some of that time off the computer. Our lives are all different. Being mindful helps us balance when we're being excessive. It sounds like you're being mindful by just asking this question of others. Just don't forget that comparing your internet usage to others isn't going to paint as accurate a picture as you may hope.

I really love the internet -- I can find answers to most questions in just a few minutes. But it does get in the way of getting other things done. I have to force myself to "unplug" so I can get down the things that need to get done around the house. It also promotes weight gain.
