But let's stop and think about this for a minute.

    Why is it so bad.

Why do we expect monks to live as they did 2,500 years ago?

We would be having conniption fits if we had to live with the technology of just 50 years ago.

Why is it so wrong for Buddhism to change the manner in which monks live.

And isn't that one of the prime reasons why the monk population in modern Thailand is decreasing and why some temples have no monks at all, while others have their bots and wiharns closed and locked most of the time?

    It's not so bad.
Remember it's about going with the Tao/Zen or whatever else you want to call it.
They are adapting, they are going with the flow.
Makes sense. Money is not bad, it's how one uses it. Only a tool.

bro you can have a rolex on your hand and be a great buddha.

what makes a buddha? his/her actions? what they wear?
a buddha is one who is awake that is all. how the buddha acts or what the buddha does is his/her problem.

a buddha's thoughts/speech/actions are all in accord, it's not just that they're awake but how they treat all life. all too often we get complacent and think emptiness means we can do whatever we want, but this is not how a buddha thinks. it's more a tangential kind of nihilism that allows us to justify doing anything we want now... instead of purifying our karma.
a buddha realizes how things are and always acts with compassion and wisdom, not like they can do whatever they want. they understand that any problem is everyone's problem, and so do not make waves. and besides that, they no longer have the wants to do whatever they want (and act instead to be helpful, to do what is necessary, or to do nothing all depending on the situation).
