  • "Simple" is right word knowing Buddha ....yes is easy , fun , simple and exciting .
All traditions , culture , sociaty of Buddhism infact is just an expression of local culture , same as practice of monk is all culture and customs and NEVER IN ANY POSSIBLE WAY could be associted to Buddha .
No one can teach Buddha to others including Dalai Lama or even Siddharta , Buddha is about knowning own awareness by being awake . I am just taking this oppurtunity to learn NOT to teach.

Zen practice is quite simple. You sit there, breath in and out and that's pretty much it. :) Some people get the idea that it's not simple because of the koan practice AKA: "what is one hand clapping, etc." but even those koans point to something very simple.
  • Simple but profound..
  • It does. Here it is : The Four Noble Truths, The Eightfold Path, and the Five Precepts; read, learn about, and practice those.

Simple indeed - but not always so easy.

The simplicity is found within and not without. It does not really matter what school of Buddhism we are exposed to. If we have tendency towards simplicity & comprehend the basics of the teachings, we will find simplicity

    Kind regards :)

    I agree exactly.

I would also add that the Dhammapada is a simple and beautiful encapsulation of all of the Buddha's Dharnma teachings.
  • What's so hard about sitting on your backside and breathing???

    Its as simple as that.
As for buddhas teachings plain and simple: read up the 4noble truths and if you agree with them, read up the 8fold path and if you agree that them 8 things can end ur suffering then ur good to go..

Don't get too involved with all this end of rebirth cycle blar blar blar coz none of us will ever know what goes on after death and whether we come back as a goat or whatever...just listen to the heart and have fun reading.

The best is school is called: "The school within" I think people find it when they sit and start listening to themselves for once! Its got the best teacher ever in that school. ;)

    I don't consider myself a Buddhist, nor anything else in particular. So I say only what I know to work for me and give no advice. And the older I get, the more I avoid learning more. I don't know if that is a mistake but honestly, I don't worry about it. But here it is;
There is not more than everything.
There is not less than everything.
You are not apart from everything.
    Everything is always changing.
Try to make everything better when you can.
Everything is not what you think it is.
    Follow the golden rule.
    Don't talk so much.
    Zazen helps.

    I like this very much!
