  • Get some of his books from the library or Amazon. They're really good.
  • I also really like Thich Nhat Hanh. The temple I used to go to follows his teachings. The way he teaches makes it really easy for me to practice in everyday life. A book I recommend by him is Peace is Every Step. Very good read. I'm Josh by the way. I just joined a few days ago.
  • Thank you Josh and welcome. :)
  • I just returned from spending an afternoon listening to TNH give a Dharma talk in person.
Having been a Buddhist for 20 years or so, and having met a number of teachers of various traditions, I have never met a teacher that exudes peace and sincerity like Thay does. If you ever get the opportunity to hear him, DO IT!
I truly felt as if I was listening to the voice of the Buddha.
I should add that I am not of his tradition, though he has always had a big impact on me.
  • ooh, this encourages me even more to see if I can afford to go see him in Septembr when he is in Denver. There is also a retreat which is way out of my range. I am going to check right now.

I have such high hopes that in my life I can exude some peace towards others. I may never be in front of thousands of people but in my work I see 150 kids every week and have 15 staff I can affect.

    There you go!

  • Argh, tickets aren't bad but I am scheduled on my weekend job that day. I may see if someone will trade but that is hard because the store does not ever give out our phone numbers, I guess that is good. But I am only there on the weekends so it is nearly impossible to get in touch with people.
  • I watched an interview with him, I do feel a level of peace just by watching that alone, the way he described the transition between physical existence and universal oneness. @Jtag I find it funny, that I too have the name Josh, and I also joined recently.
