Karma.....could l be in debt?

edited August 2011 in General Banter
Buddhanet states 'Karma underlines the importance of all individuals being responsible for their past and present actions'....so i wasnt necessarily good, l am 37 so have alot of bad behaviour. This states the past and present actions. Could my Karma be in debt? can/is it possible to put things right (in a way)?

Yes. The jewel ornament of liberation says that it is like the moon coming out from behind the clouds.

The law of kamma is not a 1+1=2 kind of reward/punishment system. It's an aggregate that accumulates over lifetimes (many, uncountable lifetimes). What you did last week only tips the balance one way or the other a tiny bit. Like putting in or taking out a penny from your savings account. A penny either way isn't going to make you rich or poor, but it adds just a smidgen to the balance on one side or the other.

You may, as most of us probably are, be in the negative side of things. That's partly why we're still here and aren't yet enlightened beings.
