Broken Bead - An Introduction

I don't know if I'm in the correct area; please excuse me if I am not.
I'm 24 from Florida. I'm a religious seeker just following where my Self guides.
I've been lurking for a while and now I have a question. I recently purchased a bone mala for meditation. While preparing for meditation this evening, as I let it flow through my fingers, one of the precious beads broke in half.
My first instinct might have been to return or exchange it. However, I am reluctant to do so as these beads come from a sentient being and I greatly fear that, at least, the broken bead will be ill-treated.
How should I proceed? Is there any meaning in this? Surely not a breakthrough as I had yet to even use them...
My instinct is to use the mala normally.
