How do you do it?

  • Hi Sattva,
    How do you do it?
I wouldn't advise taking the world too seriously. Our minds require joy and happiness in order to grow in the Dhamma. If we take the world too seriously, we might miss out on much-needed joy and happiness.

I would suggest: Be serious about practicing the Noble Eightfold Path and understanding the Dhamma.

    Metta,

  • take it seriously, but do not ATTACH to it, that is where you may fall. Everyone falls, but we can all get back up. Like Guy stated, the 8 foild path is one of the tsaples and greatest way to conduct one's self if you look into it with detail.

I find that I don't take society too seriously. I'm wondering if it could be one of the reasons I can't find myself in it in practical terms, for example finding work.
  • define seriously ,if we don,t act , are we serious ??

So how do you have a roof over your head and have food to eat?

And who pays for that inteweb connections and computer you're using?

Maybe only half a grain? Or, take the grain but don't eat it.

It's the only world we have. So we have to at least try to take care of it. And people in it are suffering. We can't just stand by idly and let THAT happen, can we?? There's work to be done, roll up your sleeves, pitch in, help a suffering soul today.
  • In the wisdom according to the six pragnaparamita, the first 5 are forms while the sixth is the formless wisdom in all five. Wisdom is the essence of everyone. It is loving-kindnessly emptiness, while the five are compassion and with bliss. You take the world seriously in loving-kindness and compassion :p :wow:

Do we have to? I actually find the world rather absurd.

Well that's the point. To me many things about how the society and people function amounts to just a big joke. Unfortunately, I need to survive in this world somehow.

And often everything seems so futile.
  • I think going through life with a wry smile always on the verge of breaking through is a good philosophy. See the absurdity for what it is, try and enjoy it where possible and seek sanity where you can find it. And if you find out where it (sanity) is hiding, please let me know!!
  • Right understanding and acceptance may be the path for this world.
