Vipassana

edited September 2011 in Meditation
Is this considered Buddhist? I have learned that it's used in New Thought like Unity.

  • Yep, Buddhist.

It is a meditation practice from Buddha Gotama for love & compassion.
It is this observation-based, self-exploratory journey to the common root of mind and body that dissolves mental impurity, resulting in a balanced mind full of love and compassion.
  • vipassana in pali means insight.

I wonder if they know it means insight.
  • I think I will beg to differ.
    you gain insight through meditation.
so strictly speaking, vipassana is not a type of meditation.
the meditation practised by buddha was anapanasati
    ie observation of breath.
