i think the worst part for me is observing/contributing to the alcoholics. not all "regulars" are alcoholics, but many of them are. there were people who would come in and sit at the bar for hours on end...drinking all day... go home... come back tomorrow and do the same thing. i grew up with an alcoholic father, so i'm particularly sensitive to it, i think. some might disagree with me, but i believe that bartending/cocktail waitressing does not fall under "right livelihood" like i said, i did it for years to get by, everybody has to do what they have to do... but it really started to wear on me, so this is mostly from personal experience.
