When it comes to texts the Pali nikayas are authoritative. When it comes to doctrine the four noble truths are paramount. In fact, if one is to think of Buddhism they should think of the four noble truths, and if one is to think of the four noble truths they should think of buddhism. There are no figure heads in the Buddhist religion. Everyone practices for and by themselves. The way Buddhism has effected my view of the world is that it has opened it up. Through Buddhism I have learned that everyone is effectively the same in that they all want not to experience pain, and they all want to be happy. This allows me to live my life in a very positive manner.
I hope you'll stay a while and become a contributor....;)
I think @MindGate's advice - to check your Private Messages - is a sound one. The reason is, that occasionally threads of this nature go off-topic, due to members picking up points from other member contributions, and they then fly off at a bit of a tangent, discussing various points which may or may not have anything to do with the OP's question.....
Would everyone kindly contribute as they see fit, and as they wish, by PM'ing the OP with their responses.
Many thanks, all.
@ChalinMari, I hope you receive what you need, here.
