I wanted to post this because I'm finding it to be extremely useful, as a new Buddhist, in understanding the Buddhas core teachings as the Buddha himself presented them. studying the suttas without commentary has thusfar proven to be beyond my scope of understanding... It's a combination of various parts of the Pali Cannon and commentary on them & reads like a college textbook. Its been really great in allowing me to understand seemingly obscure teachings like kamma.

The Wings to Awakening - An Anthology from the Pali Canon
Translated and Explained by Thanissaro Bhikkhu

"The Wings to Awakening constitute the Buddha's own list of his most im-
portant teachings. Toward the end of his life, he stated several times that
as long as the teachings in this list were remembered and put into practice,
his message would endure. Thus the Wings constitute, in the Buddha's eyes,
the words and skills most worth mastering and passing along to others."
