What do you think are we in the age of Dharma decline ?
According to the Buddhist sage Nichiren and Pure-Land teachers like Shinran Shonin and Honen we are.
But what do YOU think ?
Please feel free to share your ideas !
Is Maitreya Buddha really going to appear in the near future or is this hype over Maitreya's reappearance just New-Age propaganda authored by people who don't know Buddhist prophecies very well ?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but...

Christianity is declining. Buddhism is growing in the West and reemerging in some Asian countries.

Secularism is on the rise too, and many Atheists I've met revere the Buddha's teachings, but don't call themselves "Buddhists" even though they may go by his teachings.

Many New Ager's follow Hinduism, Buddhism, Wicca, and a whole mess of other stuff too, and don't consider themselves just Buddhists because they follow different teachings as well.

I don't think the Dharma is declining. It may be being distorted (I have no idea), but Buddhism isn't declining.
  • We had a thread on this not long ago. The Dharma Ending Age.

It partly had to do with the idea that Dharma practice is becoming degenerate, and the teachings are getting watered down or distorted. It's growing and spreading, but the level of understanding and accuracy of teachings some believe are being lost. Not to mention the whole ethics issue.
