Caffeine withdrawal

Anyone else ever quit caffeine? I had an eye twitch so I gave up caffeine. It worked the twitch is gone. But I just wondered if anyone has some story to share about giving up coffee. I feel a little bit of stress like depression, but I guess I am ok.

Did you go cold turkey, or gradually? If you were a big coffee drinker (say 3 cups or more per day) I would say go gradually.

I got rid of my twitches with supplements (calcium and magnesium are important here I think), not by quitting caffeine. But do what works for you.

    :coffee:
  • I usually drank 2 mugs of half caf and half decaf, the mugs are a little more than a metric cup. Maybe 1 1/2 metric cups.

I think I am ok going cold turkey. I might have the blahs due to a stage I of meditation I haave been reading about called 'hot boredom'. Rigdzin Shikpo talks about it and it is a very antsy uncomfortable feeling. I guess I just have to ride it out whatever the cause.

    Thanks
  • @sattvapaul Caffeine leaches calcium out of the system, so you did the smart thing.

I've heard that quitting cold turkey can give you headaches if you're in the habit of 2-3 cups/day. I know someone who would get headaches if he missed his daily coffee fix.

    I drink coffee sometimes.
It depends if I need an extra boost.
Usually, tea, but sometimes I go with Caffeine. I don't drink that much when I do.
    half a teaspoon.
  • I second the headache thing, blargh! Taper by mixing decaf in greater ratious.

@compassionate_warrior, I was previously drinking 2 mugs a day, but it is at least 50% decaf beans if not more. I didn't feel headaches or anything quitting, I just didn't get that morning energy. On the other hand I feel more relaxed, possibly, in the evening.

So I did go cold turkey and my eye twitch is 99% gone.
