HAHA, I JUST SAW THIS ON REDDIT.

So you Reddit too, B5C? :P

    Are you subscribed to r/Religion?
  • The blog on Trungpa Rinpoche is really interesting too.
  • What has happened to this country? Banning well-written Buddhist books?! Where did all these militant Christians come from? These are nothing like the laid-back Christians I grew up around, who kept their Christianity to themselves. West Coast Christianity seems to be very different from mid-Western and Southern Christianity.

    wtf??!!
  • Evangelical Christianity is pretty extreme in the midwest, Dakini.

    On Reddit I am Bab5crusade
  • I have met some of those types, generally nice people but they were so happy they homeschooled because the history text books treated all religions equally. thay basically said it that way, and these friends really never got my point of view until they asked me to be on a board of directors for a homeschool group. There was a statement of faith so i could not do the job, they were totally dumbfounded to realize that after 5 years of knowing me I did nto beleive the nicene creed,

anyway that was an aside, this was in california so it blew my misconceptions of a liberal state.
  • Hmm weird, I student taught in Plymouth/Canton school districts.

    Then again it was 1987.

odd, that was my girlfriend's school. she said that in the 90's there was an uproar because they apparently invited a wiccan to give a talk (not sure what context this was) and everyone freaked out about it. i think for the most part, it's a pretty liberal school now, at least, that's the impression i get from hearing her talk about it. very different from where i grew up.

There are many liberal communities in CA, but in rural CA, like around the logging towns and farming communities, I've heard it's quite the opposite. Reagan and Nixon came from CA. CA elected Reagan governor twice. That says something.
