Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday! I'm sitting in a little cafe on the beach enjoying some amazing fish ceviche :)

    Can I have some....?

Send us a pic of the beach.... I'm still gazing at the last one you downloaded, with no small degree of envy.... and the ceviche, while you're at it!

    Happy holidays, @Mountains!
  • yuummm, well from the frozen north have a great time! I could use a beautiful warm picture to sit under a blanket and look at.
  • Good for you, Mts., you deserve it! Happy Holidays!
  • I love Belize; I lived there for about eight months. I was mostly based at Airport Camp (we shared it with the Belizean Defence Force); but it's a beautiful country.

You've got the coast and the cays which is very Caribbean, and then you've got the jungle, which I didn't like much (I did a jungle survival course there).

I also visited a Mayan pyramid near the Guatemalan border; it had a long unpronounceable name that began with an 'X'; but I think Punta Gorda was my favourite place; it felt safe, the fishing was great, and the 'bars' were fantastic.

Raul's Rose Garden was an experience too.

    Happy holidays, Mountains!

    Jelly.
  • @Tosh Was it Xunantunich? I think that's actually on the Mexican side of the border, in that corner where Belize, Guatemala and Mexico come together. I'm a huge fan of the Mayan sites. :)
  • @Tosh Was it Xunantunich?
That's the one. I've since found out that the 'X' is pronounced 'Ch'!

I was drinking at the time, we spent four hours driving there; I was in the back of a landrover drinking Belikan beer, and we arrived at San Ignacio, not far from Xunatunich; but I/we found a bar there and spent most of the day drinking, so by the time we dragged ourselves away, we spent very little time at the site.

    What a waste eh?
