I don't want to use miracle, not as big as that, but my exhusband gave me a check that catches up back child support when I dropped the kids off for Christmas Eve. I was able to deposit it in the ATM and get some cash back from that, which means I went from $3 in my wallet to enough to feel comfortable and pick up a few last minute things. I had been focusing on the positive for the last week as we scraped by and felt proud that we are fine, bills paid, enough food and all. This was just great, and I even let him give me a hug.

Made me happy to hear as well!

The Christmas Icicle, the source of Christmas magic, just got stronger.. this being from my viewing of Puppy Paws saves Christmas today :)
  • Thank you all, I went to usher at the interfaith church and we had a locally famous jazz singer there. So we went from our average 40 attendees to estimated 475! And I had agreed to do a reading but I did fine. So handing out candles, helping people get seated, and cleaning up after was a good thing but just to hear this woman and her band sing was evening the score.

PS does it help that every time I get money I help support the local Starbucks.

    er...... no. :D
  • Okay, starbucks does not help karma, that is official Buddhist wisdom! Gotcha

Well, I wouldn't call it 'official Buddhist wisdom', exactly...but I bet given a moment or two, over a cup of coffee and a chocolate muffin, you could probably think of better ways.... :D
  • Ahh yes, I am sure there are better ways. I tend to always give $1-2 to the homeless newspaper they sell outside. It is a great way to help those who need help but also give them the pride of helping themselves. Still tea at home is most days.

....You'll think of me the next time you have a coffee at 'Starbucks' - and curse and rail at my name forever!
  • Nooooo! I love my chai tea, it is so tasty with the steamed milk. On the days it is -20 then I think maybe I can have an extra hot no water chai, puhleeeeze, I tried to do the steamed milk thing at home and it isnt as tasty and I can't people watch out the window as the semi-suicidal folks walk along the major road and don't go to crossing lights, or sometimes have big arguments with imaginary people while they carry boxes of random things. Of course then there is the yuppy moms with small children who are overdressed and college students staring at textbooks in defeat and random people trying to make a business deal where you wonder if they really have a business or they are just another hopeful. One of the fave things though is going there when I have had a dress up meeting to see the pavlovian response men have when they hear high heels.

So you can see that this is a total experience kinda of deal. Hmmm, if you were given a gift card would you go through drive through, sit and people watch, or re-gift the card to someone? Hmmmm
