My school is having a seminar lead by our teacher form Netherlands in April. It is on the Parmaitas. I want to know a little about them before I go.
There are lots of materials out there to study but do any of you have a recommendation for elemantary, easy to read book or site to learn about them?
(Hi everyone, I am new here, just checking you all out:type: )

Welcome to the site.
Unfortunately, I know nothing about which you speak.
So, I'll leave a response to someone more knowledgable.
Again... welcome!

Though I haven't read it myself, have you heard of Aitken Roshi's book
"The Practice of Perfection"?
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0679435107/sr=8-1/qid=1143050946/ref=sr_1_1/102-3197369-4361728?%5Fencoding=UTF8
I've leafed through it and they seem like teisho on each precept with
Q&A after words. Perhaps that would be one place to start.
Peace

The Ten Perfections

There are two sets of paramitas or perfections and they are not identical. The Theravadin list is given by Elohim & the sites I gave are focused on the six major ones practiced by the Mahayana schools. The Mahayana also has a list of ten, but the first six are enough to keep one occupied for many lives.
My apologies. The other list is:
The Ten Perfection (Paramitas)
1. Generosity (dana)
2. Moral discipline (shila)
3. Patience and tolerance (kshanti)
4. Energy (virya)
5. Meditation (dhyana)
6. Wisdom (prajña)
7. Skilled methods (upaya)
8. Vow or resolution (pranidhana)
9. The ten powers or special abilities (dashabala)
10. Knowledge (jñana)

Hard to find end of post- do you click arrow at end of page numbers or last page number and to post is it new reply or reply....and big text of content person is refering to sometimes throwas me off...duuuhhhh
Not sure why it is reader/visually difficult for me.
Click on 'Last Page', or the last page number - depending on where in the thread you are, then on either 'quote' or 'q reply'. The small, faint text is difficult for quite a few people at first I think.
Click on the little red arrow, pointing Right, by the last contributor's name.
