Paramita's book

My school is having a seminar lead by our teacher form Netherlands in April. It is on the Parmaitas. I want to know a little about them before I go.

There are lots of materials out there to study but do any of you have a recommendation for elemantary, easy to read book or site to learn about them?

(Hi everyone, I am new here, just checking you all out:type: )

    Hi LatinaMermaid -

    Welcome to the site.

Unfortunately, I know nothing about which you speak.

So, I'll leave a response to someone more knowledgable.

    Again... welcome!

Hey, LM. I see you're checking out the site...welcome...

Though I haven't read it myself, have you heard of Aitken Roshi's book
    "The Practice of Perfection"?
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0679435107/sr=8-1/qid=1143050946/ref=sr_1_1/102-3197369-4361728?%5Fencoding=UTF8

I've leafed through it and they seem like teisho on each precept with
Q&A after words. Perhaps that would be one place to start.

    Peace

There are two sets of paramitas or perfections and they are not identical. The Theravadin list is given by Elohim & the sites I gave are focused on the six major ones practiced by the Mahayana schools. The Mahayana also has a list of ten, but the first six are enough to keep one occupied for many lives.

Not sure why it is reader/visually difficult for me.

    Hey Latina, :wavey:

Click on 'Last Page', or the last page number - depending on where in the thread you are, then on either 'quote' or 'q reply'. The small, faint text is difficult for quite a few people at first I think.

If you scroll right to the top of the page, you'll see a section marked 'new posts'. that shows you all the topics currently under discussion.
Click on the little red arrow, pointing Right, by the last contributor's name.
