Very excited

edited April 2006 in General Banter
Hey all,

I am very excited. A friend and I just filed for S Corporation status in Florida for a business we are starting.

She is the industry specialist and I am the "geek specialist"

We are developing a website that has to do with handmade art of all forms. I know all the web programming stuff (.NET,SQL etc..) and she has all of the contacts.

It is very exciting because this is the first business I am opening up and from the looks of it, we have an oppertunity to be VERY successfull.

I might ask for some help to beta-test the website in about another month (5/1), if anyone is interested. Specifically, I will need people to try to break into the website and cause problems so I can eliminate as many bugs as possible. I'm sure frizzer would be interested in this :) Every white-hat loves to try to break a software system forcefully :)

anyways, just wanted to describe my enjoyment :)

When you're ready just let me know and I'll see if I can get some of our tame hackers onto it !

    sounds good!

It's probably going to be another month before I can begin beta-testing it. Still in the UML design phase right now.

perhaps some of you could look into the two sites I've been working on and giving your comments to me...

    www.freewebs.com/floral-flair
    www.freewebs.com/read-write

one is mine the other is the mrs.

any comments, i'd like tohear them.

P.S. please don't hack them and stuff it up-I'm not geeky enough to fix anything web related! teehee.

    hey xrayman,

I like the layout on the read-write one. That javascript clock drives me nuts though :)

Being a web developer, I've seen so many of those clock things...

Very nice designs tho, did you do them yourself?

Heres the biggest site design i've done to date:

    http://www.flaglerschools.com/

I can't take credit for the flash movie at the top, but all the dynamic scripting/database access was made by me. My crowning accomplishment :)

Wow, Sean! It's beautiful! It's also wickedly fast. I'm on slow dial up (31kbs) and it loaded immediately as did all the links I tried. The design is so uncluttered and easy to read. I'm very impressed.

I'm looking forward to seeing your new website when it goes up. I love design of all kinds. I was a floral designer for years and years (grew up in the business) so I really like Xray's wife's site. She's got some great floral designs on there. But I'm also very interested in web design esthetics and many other kinds of design. Very cool!

Thank you very much Brigid, you have very kind words :) *blush*

When it comes to the actual graphic design, I think my skills there leave much to be desired, I can make it by and make a site look nice, but in my eyes the designs dont look as nice as I would like (i am a bit of a perfectionist)

When it comes to the actual coding behind the scenes, thats where I can bust out some pretty cool stuff.

Theres a sign here at work that I always laugh at as it applies to software programmers: "Please come in, Pay no attention to the men behind the curtain"

    :)

hi DKODE look I really must admit, the design is akind of WYSIWYG that this freewebs mob provide; a template.

The text and some other ideas were mine I'll remove the clock-i think it's sh** also, really was just an experiment..

Know where I can insert a java clock that is linked (updated ) by some whizbang atomic clock in the USA or similar??? know what I mean???

Hi Brigid-thanks my good friend-I love how you pander to my ego. oh that's right I'm buddhist-i don't have an ego.

While we are at it DKODE any ideas to create a program that knows when i'm wanting to use capital i? teehee

    regards,
    Xrayman

P.S Brigid, are you stalking me- i did three years at Art and Design school! I draw and paint-more of a pencil artist than anything...painting i use gouche, hate oils.

nice site Dkode! I also like the fast loading-I also like and try to acheive the concept of not having to scroll down to see the bottom of the page-hate having to do that. i want that for my sites-difficult to acheive sometimes with fixed templates and formats.

    it all fits nicely!

    regards,

    Stalking you? You wish!

    I'll bet you're a technical drawer, am I right?

BTW, if I ever did decide to stalk you (outside of your dreams, I mean), I don't think you'd have much to worry about since I can barely walk so I'd be the slowest stalker on earth. LOL!
