I went to a temple with my partner and there was a great festive atmosphere, I have missed this holiday 2 years in a row but I went this year. When my camera battery charges I will upload some pictures, it is a very important festival not only in the Thai calendar, but also the buddhist.

    Thanks, tom.
    Look forward to that. :)
  • I love pictures Tom. You are blessed to live in an area of profuse Dharma energy. I don't know if that's the right description.
  • Here are some pictures, First we all took our flip=flops off even though none of us would be entering the temple itself, and got some flowers and insense sticks. Then every stood in front of the temple and repeated after what the head monk was saying in a chant kind of manner. Then we all walked around the temple 3 times as did the monks from their position. In the fotos if things look hazy it is because they are lol, so much smoke from the inscense. Also we were going to tske pictures of each other at the end but the battery died and my gf managed to only get one of me which was a very poor foto bless her. @Jeffrey yes lol, you could say I live where there is a lot of dharma energy.

  • I like how warm and festive these are I have never seen anything like it. And I like that guys in the pink shirt. I'm tempted to move just so I can wear that. Are you the guy in the upper left? I like black too. My cousin always said when our families still congregated that nothing can be wrong with your basic black. Cool exposures to gt the lights. My friend Anuj was a good photographer, my 'memory friend'. Anywhoo I love pictures and seeing new things so I thank you. I'm feeling good tonight which is why I am running my mouth.
  • Have you started taking ecstasy Jeffrey? lol. No but thanks, I wish I had myh old DSLR, it ws so much better but that broke. This uploads pictures to a resolution of 72 which sucks, but it is what I have so... It does look warm, and it was, try around 25 degrees C lol. I am in the top left and as I said, my GF messed it up before the battery died, actually though I am wearing brown, but I do like to wear dark colours, but also white. Not much else in between!
  • O by the way @Jeffrey the pink shirt is actually the common colour for the people who work for the government, a pink polo shirt. It has never really struck me as odd actually, you do get to see some weird and wonderful things here, like a man with a monkey in 7/11 or 15 story building under constuction with the entire scafolding being bamboo.
  • Nice, Tom, sounds interesting. Ok now for some sitting.
  • @ThailandTom Looks like a great festival. Glad you posted to photos so we can live vicariously through your adventures. :)

Thailand has many holidays based around Buddhism, and communities come together like this often. There is never any trouble from what I have seen, everyone seems to just get along and share the experience. In the UK there probably would be a drunken party after that would cause some issues.
  • Wow this is really cool!

  • Itchy wool sweater in Thailand is my idea of hell :rarr:

  • lol that would be a kind of hell yes, thank you for kicing my ass and then putting me in a horrid knited itchy sweater in 30+ degrees heat in advace :)

I would have thought your idea of hell would be something different though, considering your faiths..

Tom I have an idea for a business. Pink marshmallows. Now watch 20 year from now pink marshmallow common in society.

I gave a talk to German school students in broken German and the funniest thing they asked me was if Americans really ate marshmallows.
  • They have them in the UK, I doubt they do here. That is an idea though lol, I can see where your logic came from as well :p
