Snopes and pop-ups.

edited March 2012 in General Banter
Quickie post.

Does anybody here frequent the website Snopes?

I visit the site quite a bit and I usually don't have any problems. A few weeks ago I clicked to the homepage and the infamous Free Credit Check! pop-up gave my computer a virus when I tried to close it down. I figured it might be a one time thing and I've tried it three more times and all times I've had to go to task manager to get rid of that pop-up. Are there any Snopers on here who've had the same problem?

Its a shame. Snopes is one of the best websites out there. I get paranoid on any webistes that allow any kind of pop-ups and haven't gone past the Snopes homepage in quite a while now.

Mountains uses Snopes when he needs to research certain types of things. Thanks for the warning, btw.
  • I go there once in a while. I logged in just now and did get a notice of a popup, but I have all popups blocked on my browser. This sort of thing can be caused by a website getting hacked and infected, so we can hope the site admins will catch and get rid of it.
