Does anyone know of any writings (in English if possible- if not I can try to find a good translation) focused on compassion, and cultivating it in one's self? I've post here before about my shortcomings in this area. I'm not sure what caused me to be this way, but I have this mindset of "it's somebody else's problem", and I know this is immoral and not at all Right View. I do feel a strong urge to move away from this, but I keep rationalizing away any responsibility to be compassionate.
Any help, advice or reading suggestions are greatly appreciated, and thank you all very much for your time.

it touches on this.
Also, city Dharma, by Arthur Jeon, talks a lot about implementing buddhist practice into every-day hum-drum living....

The best lesson in compassion is to experience suffering yourself. But hopefully it won't come to that, hopefully you can learn through meditation, observation, engagement with others. Try volunteering in a hospital, or tutoring youth-at-risk.
