Mr. Fauja Singh - a centenarian who's still running marathons!

I always make excuses to not go out and run - too tired, too cold, have to do this/that - and now I learn about this guy.

Who inspires you to do something that you make excuses for?

"A world record-holder in his age-bracket..." Wow. his age-bracket? All he'd have to do, pretty much, to win or set a record is show up.

    Thanks, I-S.

That's entirely possible. If he were born in a rural area, could be that they didn't keep records back when he was born, or it took his parents too long to get to the regional authority to register him, or whatever. OK, so maybe we don't know for sure exactly how old he is. But probably within a 10-year margin or less... He's still inspiring.

My gf's grandmother was born around the same time. When she passed away a few years ago, the family wanted to know her birth date (so they could put it on the gravestone or whatever I guess), but there was no official record from the village she was born in - they had to estimate based on the other life information they knew.

Like Dakini said, he's probably still gorram old. But for official world-record purposes, often they need a "legit" birth certificate which is often hard to come by from those times, especially in a rural area.
