So three or four or more.

* an anchor to return to
* the skill of answering questions
* learning compassion through example

    For me, the forum is a place to focus some Buddhist thought and concentration each day, even though many of the perspectives I read here I have considerable disagreement with.

    Wow...great question. I guess for me it's sharing and discussing thoughts and information--giving perspective, and getting new perspective.

  • @Jeffrey I'd agree with "an anchor to return to." Life has been so busy lately that I haven't been able to log on here much or keep up with people as much as I'd like to.

    I need to make NB a daily check-in place. It's comforting to have this network of like-minded people here, and I always learn something from the sage folks here as well.

    It's not my main Buddhist forum, but I come here often. It is always more lively than the others, with many different opinions.

    What is your main one if you don't mind my asking?

  • @weighted, it is good to see your posting at least now and again. I hope things are still getting more positive even if by a little every day.

    This Buddhist site has the best atmosphere with it's forum IMO, but as for gaining knowledge and learning, I have found other places to get that which provide better resources. NB is like a kind of anchor as it has already been coined, you get to know certain people who have similar ideas and for some of us, we do not have that available in our actual lives. So it is nice to share ideas and converse about certain topics here at NewBuddhist.
