prayer for the benefit of dead animal

on my way home, I happened upon a dead animal. I wrapped the body with a khata, chanted Medicine Buddha mantra 108 times, and buried him.

Is there anything else I could do?

    You're obviously a compassionate person. I don't think there's anything else you can do. Maybe donate a little money to an animal charity?

    Just curious... do you just happen to carry a khata with you at all times?

    Since khata is light and small, I always keep a couple in car. (tbh, not sure if khata is meant to use as a wrap tho)
