I have a second bedroom....

edited May 2012 in General Banter
I use as a study. I have a desk, and above it I have a Modigliani replica painting of a naked lady lying on a bed, the link below is the painting. On another wall I have a little Buddhist shrine, with 3 thangkas, one of Tsong Khapa, another of the 33 Buddhas, and the last one of Padmasambhava. My question is, am I being disrespectful towards the Buddhist images? Am I accumulating some kind of negative karma?

Thanks!!!!

    Your not being disrespectful.
I like to paint and I like to paint people, some are nudes. Some "reside' in my second bedroom, where my shrine happens to be.
    I see no disrespect.
I don't find the human form objectionable.
    Nice painting BTW.
  • Thanks for the reply, that's what I was thinking, but I wanted to be sure.

I personally don't think you're being disrespectful, but it's entirely possible that one person somewhere in SE Asia may think it's disrespectful. If you're comfortable with the set-up, then it's fine. The images are for your own spiritual use anyway, not to satisfy the morality of others.
  • really think about intention, if you want a space that has many things you consider beautiful in it then it has that energy. If you are trying to be shocking or disrespectful that is different. Others can have their opinion, however the intention is the key

I'm not sure how you can be disrespectful to an image, but if you think you are, you are!
