Past contacts ... always on my mind

Has anyone ever experienced people from the past (typically past relationships) being on their mind a lot during certain times? People from years and years ago? Any advice on shaking it or what causes it?

I've noticed that in times of some sort of stress or duress (usually) that people from the past, almost always people I have been in some sort of relationship with cross my mind a lot. It's either then, or it seems when they are doing the same. The logical side tells me that it's likely no good to bring up the past but the other part of me cant put the thoughts away and thinks about tracking them down (if I don't know where they are) or writing a letter or some form of communication. Some of these, particularly the one haunting me now was an absolutely terrible ending with huge wrongs on both sides and ended with me breaking contact all together.

Any thoughts?

From my expierances this is either a way for the mind to recall a similar event that you are faciing now; and how to find a salution. It also could be a message that this situation needs to be resolved with you and that individual.

Yes, I have. In this particular a case of unrequited love whom I dream of every so often, even though it's been over 25 years. Although we never "got together" he affected my life more than most people. So there is a definite connection...not just ships passing in the night.
  • Thanks for the replies. With this person I range from wanting to write a letter and just apologize for my part in everything to actively wanting to spite the person or just vent anger. Funnily enough, I had no anger about it until the last few months or so. I had let go, guess I took it back.
